HiWAAY: Information/Internet Services

HiWAAY Internet Services Celebrates Milestone

March 16, 2005

HiWAAY Internet Services, an Alabama Internet Service Provider (ISP) with
three 45 Mbps fiber loops of full T-3 bandwidth directly connected to the
Internet, celebrates 10 years in the Internet business this month. The
company has offices in Huntsville and Birmingham.

Business customers as far away as Australia co-locate their servers in
HiWAAY's secure network facilities. HiWAAY's multiple T-3s (45 Mbps)
provide direct routes to the core of the Internet for a reliable, redundant
connection. Because of this feature, if one or two providers go down,
HiWAAY does not lose service.

"The company has come a long way since its creation in 1995," said Redge
Swing, HiWAAY's general manager. "We started out as HiWAAY Information
Services in Huntsville, offering only dial-up access to residential
customers." The company was formed when the management at WAAY-TV, Channel
31, realized they could supply Internet access to the public, as well as to
the television station, he explained. HiWAAY was named for both the
Information Super Highway and for WAAY-TV, which is the ABC affiliate in
Huntsville, formerly owned by M.D. Smith IV, president and CEO of HiWAAY.

Since its beginnings, the company has continued to expand its services to
both residential and business customers throughout Alabama, adding such
products as high-speed DSL, dedicated T-1 and T-3 lines, Web hosting, Web
site services, server co-location and managed servers.

To accommodate continued growth, HiWAAY opened an office in Birmingham in
1999 and state-of-the-art Network Operations Centers in both Huntsville and
Birmingham.

"We are proud to still be serving Alabama after 10 years," said Smith. "We
plan to continue to offer the latest technology with the best possible
customer service, a combination that has kept us going strong for a decade."
