HiWAAY Introduces High Speed DSL in New Areas

August 1, 2003

August 6, 2003 - (Huntsville, Ala.) - HiWAAY Internet Services has announced they are now able to offer high speed DSL (digital subscriber line) Internet service in parts of Scottsboro, Pell City, Lincoln, Trussville and Haleyville.

"We are excited to be able to expand DSL to these areas," said Redge Swing, general manager of HiWAAY. "We have a lot of very loyal customers in these areas. We are pleased to offer this new level of service to both individual and business customers."

HiWAAY's DSL access service provides a high speed, low cost solution for residential or business Internet applications. Digital subscriber lines carry data over standard copper telephone lines. DSL users can receive voice and data simultaneously, so phone connections are not interrupted while the user is online.

DSL users in the expanded areas will be able to experience speeds of up to 768k. This can be as much as 25 times the speed occurring with a standard modem.

With HiWAAY's DSL, there are added benefits. "One thing that makes HiWAAY DSL unique is our connection to three Tier 1 Internet backbones," said Swing. "HiWAAY is the only Alabama DSL provider to have triple redundancy to ensure our customers stay connected when a backbone provider has a problem." Business customers can also benefit from the service. "HiWAAY's DSL for businesses is a truly unique solution," explained Brad Towery, HiWAAY's corporate sales manager. "In addition to receiving high speed access, HiWAAY DSL business customers get bundled services that include full domain name services, Web hosting and email boxes."
