HiWAAY: Information/Internet Services

HiWAAY Adds New Dial-up Access Numbers for Extended Reach

August 14, 2002 - (Huntsville, Ala.) - HiWAAY Internet Services is pleased to announce it has expanded its dial-up Internet services to include 14 additional Alabama cities. Internet users in Greensboro, Demopolis, Linden, Clayton, Hurtsboro, Holtville, Thomasville, Ft. Deposit, Union Town, Piedmont, Centreville, York, Jacksonville and Livingston now have local dial-up access.

Prior to this addition, Internet users in many of these areas were required to dial long distance for Internet service, thereby incurring additional telephone company charges.

"As Alabama's local Internet provider, we are proud to continue expanding services throughout our home state," HiWAAY General Manager Redge Swing said. "With this service, we are able to offer residents of 14 more Alabama towns a top-quality, reliable, local Internet connection. These days, folks are looking for ways to do business with steady and reliable local companies they can count on to be fair and honest. HiWAAY is one of those." "As Alabama's local Internet provider, we are proud to continue expanding services throughout our home state," HiWAAY General Manager Redge Swing said. These days, folks are looking for ways to do business with steady and reliable local companies they can count on to be fair and honest. HiWAAY is one of those."

HiWAAY prides itself on reliability, according to Swing. "Over the past eight years, HiWAAY has developed a superior network connected to three of the four largest tier-1 Internet backbones, so if one carrier's network goes down, the traffic is still routed across HiWAAY's network, preventing an interruption in service, " he explained.

HiWAAY offers Internet users a variety of dial-up accounts to choose from, ranging from $9.95 to $21.95 per month. All of these accounts come with the following features: anti-spam filtering, additional email boxes for family members, space for a personal web site, toll-free technical support and global roaming from most major cities. HiWAAY's WebMail feature gives customers the ability to check hiwaay.net email through a web browser anywhere.

Spam filtering is a feature that continues to grow in demand. HiWAAY maintains automated filters that attempt to block spam before it enters the system and offers an optional filter on individual mailboxes. This anti-spam option, Brightmail, automatically sidelines spam mail before it reaches a HiWAAY mailbox. Annoying and offensive spam messages are retained in a special spam mailbox for the mailbox user's review. As an added service, HiWAAY provides virus alerts on its web site to give information about protecting computers from widespread viruses. "Computer viruses can wreak havoc on your computer, and we believe it is good customer service to inform users about the latest viruses and give them advice about avoiding and combating them," explained Charles Boley, customer support manager for HiWAAY.
